In 1969, Mike Price began working for Orkin in Waterloo, Iowa. He rapidly went from training to service technician to service manager trainee to sales. While in sales, Mike led the district in sales for several months. In the early 1970’s, after leaving Orkin, Mike went to work for an independent pest control company. In 1975, a national company called Lystads, currently known as Ecolab, came calling.
After six years and building two new routes for Lystads, Mike ventured out on his own. With a 1977 Chevy Luv, a B&G sprayer, and $1,500 in his pocket, Mike started Aable Pest Control. He chose Aable for a name because after going through the phone book, the ring of Aamco, double A MCO appealed to his ear. Also Aable would, at that time, be first in the pest control heading. In 1994, Aable purchased two Terminix franchises that consisted of seven counties around the Dubuque area and six counties around the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City areas.
Since its humble beginnings, Mike has guided Aable from $0 to over $2,200,000 of business in 2016. This has given Mike a great deal of pride and satisfaction for himself and for the employees who have helped him achieve his goal.
